The message rings loud and clear: Napa Valley is open for business, and now is the perfect time to explore Wine Country’s many restaurants, wineries, hotels, shops and experiences. Here’s yet another great reason to visit - The Napa Valley Film Festival, November 8 through 12, 2017. Known as the ultimate film, food and wine experience, this seventh annual gala event features more than 120 new independent films and studio sneak previews shown in venues across the Valley. As a highlight, guests can interact with more than 300 visiting filmmakers at screenings. Then, there is the activity line-up of culinary demonstrations, wine tastings, the Festival Gala, Celebrity Tributes, Awards Ceremonies, and an array of parties, VIP receptions and winemaker dinners. And as a headliner, the Festival is honoring actress Tessa Thompson with the JCB Collection Trailblazer Tribute at this year’s Celebrity Tributes presentation on Nov. 9 at the Lincoln Theater in Yountville. We all know Thompson for her work in Creed and Dear White People, as well as her performance on HBO’s acclaimed drama series Westworld. She is also the female lead in the upcoming third installment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Ragnarok. In 2018, Thompson will co-star in the sci-fi thriller Annihilation and the fantasy/comedy Sorry to Bother You. Access Hollywood’s Natalie Morales emcees the evening. Because this is Napa Valley, many of the films showcase food and cooking. Just a few of the movies include Constructing Albert/El Bulli, Michelin Stars: Tales from the Kitchen, New Chefs on the Block, and A Fine Line. If watching food makes you hungry and thirsty, the Festival fuels you up with delicious goodies including a Wine Pavilion, cooking demos with celebrities such as Michelin Star chef Chris Cosentino, and an interactive tasting with local sushi chef/director of Blind Sushi short film documentary
