Music on the Lawn

Gear up for sizzling summer concerts at a very cool venue indeed: The Estate Yountville’s ‘Music on the Lawn’ series rocks the town August 19 through October 22, 2017.

Set on 22 acres in downtown Yountville, the Estate is home to the luxurious Villagio Inn & Spa and Vintage House and includes V Marketplace, a retail lifestyle shopping and dining complex housed in the former 140-year-old Groezinger Winery. The open-air Music on the Lawn acoustic concerts take place every third Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and every third Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Estate is also near the Jessup Cellars Tasting Gallery on Washington Street, which combines wine and art curated from regional and national artists.

For each show, Jessup Cellars and its sister winery Handwritten wines offer goodies for purchase, including artisan picnics from Atelier Fine Foods and The Caviar Company, grilled foods like sliders, and wine, craft beer and specialty cocktails.

Mark your calendars:

Cary Brothers: Saturday, August 19 / Sunday, August 20
Cary Brothers is an American indie rock singer-songwriter originally from Nashville, Tennessee, who first gained national recognition for his song “Blue Eyes” on the Platinum-selling, Grammy-winning “Garden State” soundtrack. More than 100 of his songs have been featured in TV shows and movies such as Grey’s Anatomy and The Vampire Diaries, and he has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! And The Late Late Show.

Jesse Thomas: September 16 / September 17
Jesse Thomas is originally from Kentucky, and currently based in Los Angeles. Over the last two years, Jesse has developed a dedicated fan base around the country, and around the world through her YouTube channel, TV placements, SXSW appearances on the Hotel Cafe stage, her iTunes “free single download” with over 120K downloads, and her week-long stint as Starbucks “Pick of the Week” artist with free download cards in all U.S. and Canadian locations. She released her first full-length album, entitled War Dancer, in 2012, after which it peaked at number four on iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts, charted on Billboard at No. 25, on “Heatseekers,” and No. 16 on the folk charts.

Foxtails Brigade: October 21 / October 22
The Hollywood Hills-born daughter of a horror filmmaker and sister of a cult comedian, Foxtails front-girl Laura Weinbach grew up in a household that embraced eccentricity. Her next-door neighbors were circus contortionists with emus and fang-toothed monkeys as pets and her childhood activities included snail hunting and spying on celebrity neighbors like Slash, Ice-T, and Larry from Perfect Strangers. Laura’s upbringing is present everywhere in Foxtails Brigade, from the lyrical imagery to the hand-drawn artwork and sophomoric Instagram cartoons. The band’s live show is a clockwork of junkyard beats, warped orchestral sonics, and Laura’s trademark voice and classical guitar intricacies with an A-List ensemble featuring performing members of Bright Eyes, Van Dyke Parks, and John Kale. The songs tackle subjects of substitute teaching in the Oakland and LA public school scenes, steak appreciation, and general unfairness awareness with a warped pop sensibility akin to St. Vincent, Joanna Newsom, The Smiths, and Spoon.
