With over 300 wineries decorating the landscape of the infamous Napa Valley it’s amazing to think of the artistry and skill involved in each one to produce world-class wines. The wineries of Napa Valley are divided into 14 appellations making it interesting and fun for wine-lovers to sample wines from each appellation and compare their discoveries. This Saturday, September 25th, the Hess Collection Winery will host the 11th Annual Mount Veeder Appellation Tasting. Over 17 Mount Veeder wineries will be gathered – some without public tasting rooms – to celebrate the unforgettable wines of Mount Veeder. This is truly an incredible opportunity to taste limited edition and special reserve wines.
Visitors will listen to live music, taste the unique characteristics of Mount Veeder wines, and enjoy delicious food prepared by the Hess Collection Winery Executive Chef, Chad Hendrickson.
Mount Veeder was granted appellation status in 1993. It was the first California appellation to grow Petite Verdot and to plant all five Bordeaux grapes in one vineyard. Although Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varietals are the majority on Mount Veeder, the wineries of Mount Veeder also produce white varietals such as Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, and more. Most of the growing on Mount Veeder is done by careful hands due to the mountainous landscape.
